Vaginal Tightening
What does it try to accomplish?
Reduces the size of the vagina if it has been stretched during childbirth. This should allow the woman to give and receive more pleasure when making love.
How is it done?
The stretched muscle at the back of the vagina is joined together and shortened and the redundant skin is removed.
How long does the operation take?
1 hour.
How long is the stay in the clinic?
1 night.
What type of stitches are used?
Dissolvable.
How long are they left in?
What type of dressing is used?
Vaginal pack.
How long is it left on?
Until the following morning.
Is there any bruising?
None.
Is there any swelling?
Very variable but not usually very marked.
What pain will there be?
Soreness only.
Where are the scars and how bad are they?
Inside the vagina only. Would only be visible to a gynaecologist.
How long does it take to recover?
A few days.
When is the final result seen?
3 weeks or so.
How long does it last?
Permanent, unless the patient has another baby.

Many patients have psychosexual difficulties, which will not be helped by this operation even if they think they need it. It is therefore not possible to guarantee that this operation will improve a woman's love life because there may well be other factors affecting it which the surgery cannot alter. |
